Ever since my childhood I’ve always possessed a fascination with an “eye” for design. Whether I was flipping through my Mother’s “Veranda” or “Architectural Digest” magazines, or constantly watching HGTV, I was interested in color, furniture, layout, and design trends. During high school I took a two day aptitude test in Houston, an exercise intended to determine a person’s individual strengths and career paths, and the results confirmed my aptitudes for color and design (something I’d known in my heart all along!). Since beginning my studies in design, I find myself growing with every project into the student, and future designer, that I want to become. Academic study and individual desire are important first steps, but my desire now is to put theory and passion into everyday practice with a position that will give me exposure to the day to day function of an actual designer, working with real clients and transforming that client’s incomplete hopes into a finished, but unique, outcome.
